BSDM leadership encourages students from all ethnic and cultural backgrounds to apply to the program, and is committed to fostering a stimulating and supportive environment for its diverse community of students and faculty.
Harvard's Graduate School of Arts and Sciences has an active recruitment program which seeks out potential applicants from underrepresented minority groups.
In particular, the Office of Admissions aims to encourage applicants who identify themselves as African-American, Mexican-American, Native American, Native Pacific Islander from Hawaii, Samoa, Guam, or Micronesia, or Puerto Rican. Efforts to attract such prospective students include summer programs, recruitment visits to undergraduate schools, prospective student visits to the Harvard campus, and specific Financial Aid Opportunities for minority students. Stephanie Parsons, Minority Recruitment and Student Programming Officer for GSAS, is available to prospective applicants. She can be reached via e-mail at minrec@fas.harvard.edu or by telephone at 617-495-5315 (between 2 and 5 pm EST, Monday-Friday) to answer questions or to put applicants in touch with current GSAS students.
